I Have A Couple Of Friends Who Should Keep This In Mind

Today's Card Image - copyright 1998
Lo Scarabeo S.r.l. The Magician card reversed suggests that your ego could get bruised if what started as a passionate affair is revealed as a way to get some action or as part of an agenda to gain material advantage or a position of power. Try not to place too high a priority on the trappings of romance or dating or else you might fall victim to a player who could use pressure and manipulation in order to get what he or she wants. As long as you are aware of the game, enjoy playing it.

Well, Then...

Today's Card Image - copyright 1998
Lo Scarabeo S.r.l. The Knight of Swords card suggests that my power today lies in change. I am quick, sharp, and ready for assertive, revolutionary or affirmative action. I overcome obstacles or resolve conflict by getting right to the point, cutting to the chase or confronting challenges head on -- even if this means going against the grain. My communication, style or expectation is on the cutting edge and relies on reason, design, the latest craze or facts. It is my honor to protect and defend my perception of truth. I measure twice and cut once. I am empowered by expectation or duty and my virtue is commitment to the greater good.

The Many Deaths Of Love

"Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings."

Anais Nin

Am I Truly Loved?

Do you love me because I'm beautiful,
or am I  beautiful because you love me?

Oscar Hammerstein, II

Is it enough to say that you love someone or is it only love if you demonstrate that love? Should one be content with the words or just the actions? Are actions enough? Should you not also hear the words? Are the words enough, should you not also see the actions? Is there truly any way to demonstrate that love? What is one really willing to sacrifice for that love? Should one be satisfied with the words when the other is unwilling to give what is needed? How does one live with that sort of love when the other fails to live up to the words especially when the other willingly ignores the explanations? Is it worth it then? Can years, even decades of a person's life be justified then? How does one not only live but cope like that? How?

One Of My Site Sisters Left This As A Comment On My Page

So I thought I'd share it with everyone here. I still don't know why she thought of me when she saw it.

You'd Think This Would Be Obvious

"The color of the skin is in no way connected with the strength of the mind or intellectual powers."

Benjamin Banneker
1731-1806

Why is this something that must be brought up from time to time? Why do people need to be reminded of this every other time they open their mouths? Has this level of stupidity infected the entire country or just the South? I hate when these people think they can have an 'intellectual' conversation with me and then look surprised when I say something that is actually intelligent that they don't understand. It's called an education, Asshole, get yourself one. One other thing, just because I don't possess a piece of paper that says I received a 'higher' education doesn't mean I'm uneducated. I happen to believe that just because you dedicate 2 or 4 years of your life to learning doesn't make you more educated than I am; it just means you were too lazy to continue your education which should be a lifelong endeavor. This doesn't necessarily apply to EVERYONE who went to college, just those who mistakenly believe that a degree makes them better than I am. That degree won't help you dislodge a size 9 from your ass, I can guarantee you that. And in case anyone is curious I'm currently reading The Fall Of The Roman Empire and Ancient North America. Like I said, lifelong endeavor. The purpose has yet to be revealed but I'm sure that when the time is right my path will be marked a little more clearly.

Yes, Let's All Run Amok

I found this on a Xanga site and I loved it so much I stole it. Much like that "Slippery When Wet" sign I have hanging on the wall above my bed.

"Worry is a misuse of imagination.
Be sure to let your imagination run amok on more productive endeavors."

More Truth Than You Realize

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."  Abraham Lincoln

From what I've seen thus far in present times and in history, most of them tend to fail miserably. Give a man a little power and his weakness allows it to corrupt him. It takes a man of colossal strength and integrity to use that power for the good of his fellow people. How many people fit that bill? Very few, unfortunately.

Ssshhh, Hunting Is Serious Business

A father and son went hunting together for the first time.
The father said: "Stay here and be very QUIET. I'll be across the
field." A few minutes later the father heard a blood curdling scream and ran back to his son. "What's wrong?" the father asked. "I told you to be quiet."

The boy, bless his heart, answered;

"Look, I was quiet when the snake slithered across my feet.
I was quiet when the bear breathed down my neck.
I didn't move a muscle when the skunk climbed over my shoulder. I closed my eyes and held my breath when the wasp stung me.
I didn't cough when I swallowed the gnat.
I didn't cuss or scratch when the poison oak started itching.

But when the two squirrels crawled up my pant legs and said,

Should we eat them here or take them with us?'

" Well, I guess I just panicked!!!! "

Believe Only...

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions,
even though they have been held in honor
for many generations and in diverse places.
Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it.
Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past.
Do not believe what you yourself have imagined,
persuading yourself that a God inspires you.
Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests.
After examination, believe what you yourself have tested
and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.
